Director of the one of the greatest romance movies called Hitch in 2005; Andy Tennant has once again directed another comedy about love that was released in theaters on February 8th 2008 called Fool’ Gold.
Starring Matthew McConaughey as Ben Finn Finnegan and Kate Hudson as Tess Finnegan, Fool’s Gold entertains their audience by showing them a treasure hunt that rekindles the love between a husband and wife whose marriage was failing miserably. Ben Finnegan is obsessed with finding a lost ancient Spanish treasure which he thinks will spark the love back into his married life. With the help of a billionaire, Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland) and his daughter Gemma (Alexis Dziena) Ben is more than determined to find this treasure. However, there is a problem. Ben has competition on the sea. He must find the treasure before the rapper Big Bunny and Moe Mitch find it first. The question lies: Is Ben Finnegan able to find this treasure which is lost in the sea since ancient times and be able to rekindle the love between him and his wife Tess?
Fool’s Gold came in theaters in just the right time. Christina Vera, a student in Jamaica High School, said, “The movie looks nice and funny. I’m gonna see it on Valentines Day with my boyfriend.” Also, Liakat Morshed, a junior in Jamaica High School was equally enthusiastic when he said, “The trailer was really good. I want to see the movie. It looks very funny and interesting.”
After watching the movie, I had a different opinion about the movie. I thought that this movie was not so great. It got a little boring with the ongoing rambling Matthew MsConaughey did about the history of the lost treasure. However since the movie was filmed in the Bahamas and Australia, it did have beautiful scenery. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend others to see this movie because of it’s predictable plot line which could have been made more suspenseful and enjoyable.

Article #1 - Book Review
New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult is admired for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of people. My Sister’s Keeper is an amazing book that illustrates the struggles a family must endure because of the devastating discovery of a deadly disease that has found way into their house.
Born to Sara and Brian Fitzgerald, Anna’s older sister, Kate, has been diagnosed with leukemia since the age of two. Kate has to undergo painful treatment procedures to stay alive. Unfortunately, the treatment only worked for about five years when her cancer cells reappeared into her body. Kate’s life is now dependant for a bone marrow transplant. In desperate need to find the perfect match for her dying daughter, Sara Fitzgerald decides to have another child who will be genetically similar to Kate so she could live. In about nine months, Anna is born into the family and Kate’s life becomes more stable.
As Anna gets older, she quickly begins to realize that everything in the house revolves around her older sister, Kate. Whenever Kate is sick and gets hospitalized almost always Anna has to also be hospitalized so the doctors could perform blood transfusions to save her life. Her parents also make her go through numerous surgeries and other painful procedures for the well-being of Kate.
All of this has never bothered Anna before until she is asked to donate her kidney to her sister. Even though Anna adores Kate dearly she begins to wonder if her parents have the right to “invade” her body like this. She decides to take immediate action and hires a lawyer to sue her parents so she could emancipate herself from them and have complete medical control over her own body.
Jodi Picoult does an excellent job in revealing the true emotions of the characters in this book. She took a sensitive topic of illness and showed readers the impact it has on a family. Her realistic approach to this topic is what mesmerized and completely absorbed many young readers into this book. My Sister’s Keeper, Jodi Picoult is a “must read” book for everyone. It is a sad book about love, family, and relationship that will keep your minds captivated and your hearts touched.
